Bogor Mayor Bima Arya to Keep Enforcing Odd-Even Policy on Weekends - English

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya is determined to continue enforcing the odd-even policy on weekends as it was considered effective in restricting the people’s mobility leading to a significant decrease in Covid-19 cases.

“We agree that the odd-even policy, inshallah, will be continued on weekends, Saturday and Sunday,” said Bima after a coordination meeting on Covid-19 handling with the Bogor Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) on Tuesday, February 16.

He added that the Bogor Forkopimda agreed to reimpose the traffic system on weekends and national holidays. “The odd-even policy will also be enforced on national holidays. We will evaluate it every two weeks,” said the mayor.

The restriction of vehicles entering the city on weekends through the traffic policy was considered fruitful. “The decline in the number of positive cases during the policy enforcement is the most significant one during the pandemic in Bogor,” Bima reported.

On February 6, 2021, Bogor recorded 187 new cases, while on February 15, the number of new infections dropped to 105.

The combination of the enforcement of community activity restriction on a micro-scale or Micro PPKM and the odd-even traffic policy showed a high level of effectiveness of the city’s efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The data reveals that there is a significant drop in the number of vehicles entering Bogor City, and the most important thing is that the trend of new Covid-19 cases has also decreased strikingly,” said Bima Arya.
