Regions can emulate Bogor's drive-through vaccination facility: Jokowi - ANTARA English

Regions can emulate Bogor's drive-through vaccination facility: Jokowi - ANTARA English

I see this drive-through vaccination conducted by Bogor City Administration has run smoothly.

Bogor, W Java (ANTARA) - The drive-through vaccination services offered to the elderly in Bogor, West Java could serve as a model for other Indonesian regions, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said.

"I applaud and thank Bogor City that has conducted COVID-19 vaccination in a different way to facilitate targeted citizens," he remarked while observing mass vaccinations at the Padjajaran Sport Hall in Bogor, West Java on Friday.

Wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, Jokowi observed all the steps at the drive-through vaccination facility for the elderly, starting from their registration, screening, inoculation, and observation.

"I see this drive-through vaccination conducted by Bogor City Administration has run smoothly," he said.

During his visit, the President also chatted with some senior citizens who received vaccine jabs, including a 92-year-old citizen.

The Bogor Health Office has been conducting the drive-through vaccinations for the elderly.

According to the Health Office, the city has provided around 22 thousand vaccine doses for the second stage of vaccinations, while the number of senior citizens in the city has been pegged at 61,178.

Earlier in the day, Jokowi witnessed a mass COVID-19 vaccination program for public service officers and community leaders in Bogor.

Accompanied by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto, Widodo observed the registration desk and examination table and witnessed the process of vaccine administration up-close and also greeted residents awaiting post-vaccination observation.

"Everything went well and in the city of Bogor today, at this place, approximately 500 public servants will be vaccinated to then be followed by the inoculation of pilgrims, religious leaders, and community leaders," he noted at Puri Begawan, Bogor.

"We are optimistic that this would also accelerate the vaccination process nationally as what I saw yesterday was, for example, in Makassar City, in Tana Toraja district, everyone moved. Today, in Bogor City, mass vaccinations was conducted on a large scale, both here and elsewhere," he remarked. (INE)

President witnesses mass COVID-19 vaccination in Bogor - ANTARA English

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) bore witness to mass COVID-19 vaccination being conducted for public service officers and community leaders in Bogor City, West Java, on Friday.

The head of state, in the company of Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto, observed the implementation of mass vaccination.

Widodo approached the registration desk and examination table and witnessed up-close the process of vaccine administration and greeted residents awaiting the post-vaccination observation process.

"Everything went well and in the city of Bogor today, at this place, approximately 500 public servants will be vaccinated to then be followed by the inoculation of pilgrims, religious leaders, and community leaders," the head of state noted at Puri Begawan, Bogor.

"We are optimistic that this would also accelerate the vaccination process nationally as what I saw yesterday was for example in Makassar City, in Tana Toraja District, everyone moved. Today, in Bogor City, mass vaccination is conducted on a large scale, both here and elsewhere," he remarked.

President Jokowi is optimistic that the number of vaccine recipients would increase to help build herd immunity against COVID-19.

"We are optimistic of reducing the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in our country," he affirmed.

The head of state is then scheduled to inspect the implementation of the drive-through vaccination service at the Pajajaran Sports Hall, Bogor City.

According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force on Thursday (Mar 18), some 4,848,752 residents received the first injection of the vaccine and 1,948,531 residents had received the first and second injections or had completed vaccination.

The number of residents, who have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection, is still far from the government's target of vaccinating 181.5 million people to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.

Indonesia had earlier witnessed a drop in the nationwide trend in COVID-19 infections, spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito stated.

“Currently, the trend of COVID-19 cases nationally is decreasing. This shows a change in the situation for the better, with a declining trend in transmission,” Adisasmito noted during an online press conference here on Thursday.

Despite the government’s unwavering efforts to improve accuracy of the data to 100 percent to capture the real situation, the trend is still quite valid, on account of the improving global trend, the spokesperson remarked.

'I hate women': Bogor man arrested in gruesome killing spree - Coconuts Jakarta

'I hate women': Bogor man arrested in gruesome killing spree - Coconuts Jakarta

A 21-year-old man was arrested this week for allegedly killing two women in the span of two weeks, with the suspect confessing to his hatred of women after his arrest.

Though the suspect has been accused of killing two people, the police have described the gruesome murders as the work of a serial killer.

“This can be described as [the work of] a serial killer, not only did he do it in two weeks, but the suspect again committed the murder [after the first one] and indicated that he enjoyed the deaths of the two victims,” Susatyo Purnomo Condro, Chief of the Bogor City Policy, said yesterday.

The suspect, identified as MRI, allegedly killed both victims by choking them. The first victim — a 17-year-old girl — was found late last month in front of a shop in Bogor city with her feet tied and her body stuffed into a large trash bag. Meanwhile, the second victim — a 25-year-old woman — was found in Puncak, Bogor regency, on Wednesday with her body stuffed into a trash bag, which was then stuffed into an outdoor backpack.

Susatyo said that MRI became acquainted with his victims through social media, and at least one of the victims agreed to go on a date with him through an “open booking online” service common among online sex workers. Additionally, police reportedly found the presence of semen when examining the second victim.

“[Both times he used] the same approach, the suspect would get to know them through social media, and then they meet under the guise of money to a lodging, and then after their date he would kill the victim by choking and then take away their belongings,” Susatyo said.

Meanwhile, a video that has circulated online showed MRI confessing that he “hated women.”

Susatyo said that MRI will undergo a psychological evaluation and has been charged with violation of multiple articles, including one on premeditated murder that could see him serve a lifetime in prison.

Bima Arya: Covid-19 Vaccines Work Well as No More Health Worker Test Positive - Tempo.co English

Bima Arya: Covid-19 Vaccines Work Well as No More Health Worker Test Positive - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto said the Covid-19 vaccines injected into health workers in the city have started to work well which is evident from zero cases of coronavirus disease among them this month.

“The vaccine starts working to increase antibodies. The impact is that the number of healthcare workers tested positive for Covid have dropped drastically,” said Bima on Tuesday, March 9, adding that there were 10 positive cases among health professionals in February 2021.

“This means, the vaccines that have been injected into them in the first stage [of the national vaccination program] have worked well, and there are no side effects,” he explained.

Previously, the Bogor Health Agency Head Sri Nowo Retno said the city has 10,772 healthcare workers as recorded in the Information System of Health Human Resources with 10,742 of them or 99.72 percent have received the vaccine, while the rest could not get the shot as they have comorbidities, are pregnant or breastfeeding, and survivors.

“Vaccinations for health workers have been completed at the end of February,” said Sri Nowo Retno.
